Beijing Institute of Clothing Technology is a sole higher educational institution specialized in clothing with a combination of art, trade and engineering, affiliated to the Education Commission of Beijing Municipality. Founded in 1959, it's originally named as Beijing Institute of Textile technology. In 1961, it changed its name into Beijing Institute of Chemical Fiber Technology. In October 1987 the institute is renamed as Beijing Institute of Clothing Technology. The institute has 9 departments (divisions): Department of Clothing, Department of Arts and Crafts, department of International Trade, department of Industrial Design and Automation, Department of Fine Chemistry, Department of Fiber Materials, Division of Basic Courses, Division of Social Science and Division of foreign Language. The institute offers bachelor's degree and some master's degree. Its staff body is about 800,and there are over 2000 undergraduates. It provides advanced teaching facilities and excellent study environment. The institute pays great attention to international exchanges. At present, it has established bilateral relations with universities in Japan, Korea, Australia, America, France, Britain, Finland, etc. .In order to promote the exchanges with foreign countries and meet the needs of overseas students.
